Built 30 years ago, the Duke of Edinburgh himself conducted the naming ceremony of the vessel on board.

The yacht went on to place first in races around the world, until 2001 when British Defender was completely re-fitted for Whitsunday Sailing experiences.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Airlie Beach to Whitsundays
Meet your crew at Coral Sea Marina at 7:45 am and get ready for an 8am departure! Feeling energized? Once on board you can either help hoist the sails or sit back and relax as you float across the Whitsunday Passage to Whitsunday Island, finding anchorage at Tongue Bay. Take a guided bush walk to Hill Inlet Lookout to view Whitehaven Beach. You will then have a couple of hours to explore. In the afternoon you’ll sail north to another island where you’ll anchor just before sunset. After dinner, grab a drink and enjoy the evening.

Day 2 : Explore
Early rise for breakfast, then kit up with snorkelling gear, ready to jump in over the fringing coral reefs to see the marine life. Morning tea will be served before heading to another location for a swim, snorkel or beach stop. After lunch, it is time to set the sails once again and make your way across the Whitsunday Passage. Arriving back at the Coral Sea Marina at 4 pm. .

Day 3 : Whitsundays to Airlie Beach
After lunch, it is time to set the sails once again and make your way across the Whitsunday Passage. Arriving back at the Coral Sea Marina at 4 pm.
