There's a rock in the middle of Australia that stops people in their tracks. Not metaphorically. People pull over, go quiet, and just... stare. Uluru tours exist because some things you have to see in person (the photos are good, but they're doing a lot of heavy lifting).

Uluru is 348 metres of ancient sandstone sitting at the dead centre of the country. It has been sacred to the Anangu people for tens of thousands of years. Climbing it is permanently closed, which is the right call. What you can do is walk the 10.6km base trail, join a guided cultural experience, watch sunrise paint it about seven different shades of red, and come away understanding why people describe it as one of the most affecting places they've ever stood.

And the Red Centre is more than one rock. The 36 dome-shaped formations of Kata Tjuta sit 50km west. Kings Canyon drops into 270-metre gorge walls with a walk that's genuinely hard and genuinely worth it. Alice Springs anchors the whole region, with cultural tours, the West MacDonnell Ranges, and a night sky that makes everywhere else feel light-polluted.

What kind of Uluru tours can you book?

Quick two-day hit or a full overland journey, we've got options. Browse Uluru tours and activities if you want to focus on the rock itself. Plan time in town with Alice Springs tours and activities. Or go big with an overland trip Alice Springs to Adelaide through Coober Pedy and the Flinders Ranges, or Alice Springs to Darwin through Kakadu and the Top End.

Coming from the south? The Adelaide to Uluru and beyond range covers that direction. Doing the full western loop? Perth to Darwin tours run right through the heart of the country. And if you want to see what's on special right now, check the Australia deals page.
