Raglan
Whether in a group or individual lessons, they cater to each students needs. The emphasis is on fun and safety, to ensure a pleasurable and safe ocean experience. Classes are designed to be mentally and physically interactive. During the initial 3 hour lesson, beginners are taken through the fundamentals of surfing, ocean awareness, etiquette, and water safety.
The Raglan Surf School has developed and integrated and innovative system of dry land surf board models that allow the Student to experience surfboard dynamics prior to entering the water. RSS is the only surf school in NZ incorporating this interactive teaching technique.
Individuals can be taken from riding the whitewater to gliding along open faced ground swells in just a few lessons.
Beginner Lessons
These lessons are designed for the complete beginner and those wanting to improve their skills.
Lessons are held daily through out the year, 7 days a week. Booking is essential.
Beginner lesson includes:
* 3 hour lesson, with 1 hour on the land and two in the water
* This is a group lesson with an instructor/student ratio of maximum 1 to 5 students
* Board and full length wetsuit hire,
* Free pick up from Raglan town and beach transportation
* Free after surf sauna (for afternoon lesson only)
The first lesson is designed to give you an excellent grounding in the sport, and its all about practice after that.
Private lessons
These lessons are tailored to meet the individuals needs, from a beginner through to an advanced surfer. They are especially good for someone who has surfed for a while and is looking to progress to their next level of expertise.
Private lessons includes:
* 3 hour lesson designed for your needs
* Board and full length wetsuit hire
* Free pick up from Raglan town and beach transportation
* Free after surf sauna (for afternoon lesson only)
The surf school offers two surf lessons a day during the summer months of November to 30th April at 9am and 2pm.
During the winter we have a 2pm lesson every day.

Stray passengers are able to do this during their stay in Raglan. Please note Stray vouchers are only available for passengers travelling on Stray bus.
