Itinerary

Day 1: Ocean Freedom Cruising to Upolu Cay & Outer Edge Upolu Reef

Ocean Freedom is a luxury 20m cruiser, boarding at 7:30 am from A Finger no 5. Enjoy a morning tea or coffee and Danish pastries in the comfortable lounge. Following an initial safety brief, kick back, relax and enjoy the one-hour cruise to Upolu Cay on the Great Barrier Reef.

FIRST CAY SITE (Please note that sites may be reversed depending on tides): Ocean Freedom is the first boat to arrive at the beautiful Upolu Cay so you can enjoy it uninterrupted! Surrounded by stunning turquoise water and many types of corals, reef fishes, stingrays, sea cucumbers, and sea stars, this makes for a great introduction to the reef. Snorkel and dive here under the watchful eye of our safety-conscious staff. All necessary assistance is provided to ensure all guests get to enjoy the reef, regardless of experience levels. Lunch is at approximately 12:30 am and is a self-serve buffet. The large smorgasbord lunch consists of 3 types of meat and chicken platters, prawns, smoked salmon and 3 salads, with a selection of bread. While lunch is being enjoyed we cruise to our second sit, whilst you sunbathe on the spacious comfortable deck areas or relax in the air-conditioned comfort of the saloon

SECOND REEF SITE The amazing "Wonder Wall" on the Outer Edge of Upolu Reef. View many different types of hard and soft coral in addition to fans, giant clams, turtles, and a huge diversity and abundance of reef fish of all sizes, including Nemos everywhere! You have time to snorkel and dive here, as well as enjoy an informative adventure drift snorkel tour with our Marine Naturalist and even complimentary Glass Bottomed Boat tours. Low guest numbers ensure a personal snorkel and dive experience. All guests are assessed for their diving and snorkeling abilities and are appropriately assisted to ensure all are able to experience and enjoy the Great Barrier Reef. After a full 6hrs of un-rushed pleasure on the reef and Cay, cruise home while our crew serve a sumptuous selection of tropical fruit, cheese and crackers and the decadent cake platter - an ultimate way to wind down after a magical day on the one and only Great Barrier Reef. Ocean Freedom is truly a luxury experience with unsurpassed friendly personal service. Arrive in Cairns at 4.15 pm For those of you wishing to Scuba Dive the paperwork and briefs are completed during the journey out, so when we arrive at The Great Barrier Reef you are ready to dive! Please note that some medical conditions may preclude you from diving - please contact us if you have any concerns.

Departs: Departs daily from Marlin Marina A finger 8 am. Check-in at the 'Ocean Free & Ocean Freedom' desk in the Reef Fleet Terminal, 1 Spence Street at 7.15 am

Returns: between 4:15 and 4:30pm

Pickups: Inner city: $15.50 return per person - Outer city and Northern Beaches including Palm Cove: $23.00 return per person

I loved this tour. The boat was comfy and fast, the staff entertaining, super competent and chatty with lots of info about the reef. I snorkelled and took the glass bottom boat tour twice. I really enjoyed that there were people from all around the world on the boat, so plenty of interesting chats. We were the only boat in our area so it didn't feel crowded. The second part of the tour, in the more shallow water, had some absolutely stunning coral and wildly coloured fish aplenty, including some Nemo fish, which I wouldn't have seen without the staff pointing them out. thanks guys for an awesome day :))
