On the day of arrival, travel from River Heads on the barge crossing of your choice. (Ferry times must be selected at time of booking). Check-in to accommodation (after 2.00pm). Day 2 : Day 2 K'gari
- 7.00am: Breakfast at Sand & Wood restaurant. - 9.00am: Check out of Standard Resort Hotel Room. - 9.30am: Arrive at The Sunset Bar. Courtesy bus is available from reception. - 9.45am: Depart Kingfisher Bay Resort and begin K’gari two-day tour. Tour Inclusions: Refer to iconic locations page. Itinerary may vary due to tides. Lunch at K’gari Beach Resort. - 5.30pm: Arrival and check in at K’gari Beach Resort. - 6.30pm: Enjoy dinner at leisure at McKenzie’s on 75 restaurant. Pool table and drinks available at McKenzie’s Bar until late.

Day 3 : Day 3 K'gari to Hervey Bay
- 7.00am: Breakfast at McKenzie’s on 75 restaurant and check our of Standard Resort Hotel Room. - 8.00am: Tour departure from outside reception. Tour Inclusions: Refer to iconic locations page. Itinerary may vary due to tides. Picnic lunch on tour along with morning/afternoon tea. Departure: - 5.00pm: Return ferry transfer back to the mainland. - 5.50pm Arrival back at River Heads (with local courtesy drop-offs). Thank you for joining us on tour!
ARRIVAL OPTIONS:
Courtesy Transfers: If you require a courtesy transfer from select locations in Hervey Bay, please enter your pick-up location at the time of booking and a collection time will be provided. This must be requested at least 48 hours prior to departure.
Self-Driving: Hervey Bay is approximately 3 hours by car north of Brisbane, 2.5 hours north of Sunshine Coast and 1.5 hours north of Rainbow Beach. Check-in at our Mainland Reception in River Heads. On Google Maps, this will appear as 54 Ariadne St. After arriving at this location, park in the secure car parking facility and hop on the courtesy coach fortransport to the ferry departure point. Once on island, you can enjoy a range of resort facilities and check in to your hotel room (after 2.00pm). All checked-in bags will be delivered to your hotel room through the resort’s porter service.
Secure Car Park Facilities: The secure facility is located adjacent to our River Heads Reception, fee's apply. Bookings are highly recommended and can be made directly with our Reservations Team at +61 7 4194 9222 or 1800 372 737 (within Australia).
Travelling with Infants
For bookings that includes infants (1-3 years old) you must call our Sales & Reservations team on 1800 372 737. All infants must be able to sit upright in a booster seat. K'gari Explorer does not provide booster seats, so please bring along.
Those travelling with a campervan can drive to River Heads Mainland Reception where they can receive a secure pin to gain access to the parking facilities. Bookings are recommended. 1 night rate is a $30 local payment.
Your accommodation
K'gari Beach Resort offers triple, twin and single hotel rooms. Each room has a private ensuite, TV and private deck. The resort offers many facilities for guest use however, at the end of the day the best place to unwind is at the McKenzie's on 75 bar & Bistro, otherwise you can go for a stroll and watch a magical sunset over the Pacific Ocean.
Top tip
Don’t forget to bring a little bit of spending money along with you. There is a general store at K'gari Beach Resort where you can pick up a souvenir to remind you of your time on the world famous K'gari!

Extra information
Our 4WD coaches have been specifically designed to navigate the sandy tracks and unique terrain found on K'gari. They are air-conditioned, have panoramic windows and are capable of carrying 40 passengers.
Advice for pregnant travellers and peope with medical conditions. As this tour is off-road on sand tracks and conditions can be rough at times, we advise all pregnant travellers and people with medical conditions to seek medical advice before booking this tour.
Children over the age of one are welcome on all of our tours. If your child is under the age of eight, please provide them with a car seat. If you do not have a car seat, please call the Reservations Team before booking.
