Look if you hadn't already thought of this on your own, then your bucket list needs some serious readjustments. This one of the natural wonders of the world and it's your #1 priority stop for Cairns. Whoever says size doesn't matter is wrong, very wrong. The Great Barrier Reef is bigger than the Uk, Switzerland and Holland....combined! We're talking coral and marine life. We don't want to bore you with too many numbers but seriously, lots and lots of it... like 2,300kms of it actually.

Get your adrenaline hit with some white water rafting action. Not only are you navigating mighty rapids and low-key 'that's steeper than I signed up for' waterfalls, you're also getting a free sightseeing tour of some of Australia's most ancient rainforest as you go so bonuses all round.

Nope, we haven't catfished you by about to tell you that these dinosaurs are actually super old trees or fossils (though seriously, the ancient trees are pretty cool too), we're talking real life, walking, breathing Dinos. Head to the Daintree Rainforest for your slice of history and keep your eyes peeled for this funky looking fella, who is actually a native Cassowary. This strapping specimen can be up to 2 meters tall and comes straight out of the Jurassic age. We're definitely swiping right for this looker.

If you're after a slightly less traditionally approach to sightseeing, we're recommending jumping 45 meters into thin air. Yep, that should do it. Test your nerves with the Minjin Jungle swing that takes you through some spectacular forestry and down from 45 meters to 1 in just 3.5 seconds.

Head to Fitzroy Island for the perfect beach photo ops. Go for the classic selfie or try your hand at mysteriously staring into the distance, either way, you're guaranteed a new profile picture. Just off the coast of Cairns, this tropical island boats stunning secluded beaches, rainforests, and its own coral reef system.
